Best Salomon Vests for Running Reviewed

Once attractive aspect of running is its minimalism: no shin guards, no nets, no padding – just strap on your shoes and go. This idealized image of running, however, does not reflect the many variations of the sport. If you are running long and far, you need water; none of us want to be without our cell phones and keys on board as well and some Kleenex, maybe a few gels or energy bars and a credit card or two.

Comfort
Salomon vests are known for their lightweight comfort. Salomon Labs invented what they call “sensifit” construction which molds itself to your body for a soft, secure fit. The trim is super soft to prevent abrasion. The vest is designed to support shirtless running without causing abrasion.

The two sides of the vest are held together by two, flat, flexible, sternum straps that zig-zag across the chest and terminate with adjustable locking anchors. This arrangement enables you to adjust it to your personal preferences and leaves the middle of the chest uncovered for maximal cooling and air circulation.
Salomon composes the vest from 3D Air Mesh which is stretchy and enables air circulation and moisture wicking. The MotionFit feature holds the weight of the pack’s contents securely for minimum bouncing.

Value
No question; this is an expensive item – however Salomon packs as much as they can into these nearly weightless vests.
Pros
  • Very light
  • 13 pockets
  • Mesh construction for comfort and weightless feeling
  • Non-abrasive material throughout
  • Reflective attributes on all sides

Salomon has designed a collection of very clever, very light running vests.  The vests designed with ultra runners as the target audience ranked lower, not because they are less technical or lacking in any key features, but because fewer runners participate in ultra races so they are less universal.  All of these are excellent vests.  You need only select the one appropriate to your needs.
