Outsole
Outsole

Outsole

The outsole of a shoe is essentially the piece that makes up the bottom, specifically on the outside. This is a significant part of any shoe because it is the part that constantly strikes the ground while running, meaning it needs to be made of a durable material. The Adrenaline GTS 15 contains an outsole that is made of a high impact resistant rubber which is designed to resist wear and tear. In addition to this, the outsole features a Crash Pad, which is designed by Brooks to minimize the effects of impact on the foot and provide an overall more smooth ride.

Finally, the outsole has an updated version of grooves from previous models. The groove is shaped in a way to promote flexibility of the outsole while not compromising in cushion. Overall, the outsole is a very good piece in the Adrenaline GTS 15, and is one of its stronger features.
Midsole
Midsole

Midsole

The midsole is the part of the shoe located between the inner sole and the outsole. The midsole is responsible for providing energy return, and protecting and cushioning the foot on impact, making it a fairly important part of the shoe. The Adrenaline GTS 15 has a midsole made of a new BioMoGo DNA material designed by Brooks. This material is designed to provide the right amount of cushion depending on each impact.

This material is different from common midsole options because it is actually adaptive rather than cushioning a set amount. The midsole of the Adrenaline GTS 15 also features an adjustable saddle to ensure a good fit for all runners. Overall, the midsole offers a good deal of technology and is well designed, making it a fairly good component of the Adrenaline GTS 15s.
Upper
Upper

Upper

The upper refers to the part of the shoe that wraps around the top of the foot and also secures the foot in place. A well designed upper will shield the foot, allow for good flexibility, and also allow air to flow freely throughout the shoe. The upper of the Adrenaline GTS 15 is a mesh design, which has become very common in running trainers as of late. The mesh is no-sew and makes the shoe fit comfortably but also allows for a great deal of breathability. There is a liner within the upper as well, that is designed to wick away sweat from the foot. Overall, the upper of these shoes is decent, but not outstanding in any way.
Weight
Weight

Weight

Weight, though it may not seem it, plays a fairly significant role in how a shoe functions when it comes to running. Heavier shoes tend to offer a bit more cushion, but less of a natural range of motion and efficiency, while lighter shoes tend to offer a more natural range of motion, but a bit less protection from injuries. The Adrenaline GTS 15 weighs in at about 11 ounces. This weight is very much to be expected from trainers of this type. The weight is not really a detriment or a positive for this shoe in particular, and shouldn’t cause any major problems.
Breathability
Breathability

Breathability

Breathability refers to the circulation of air, in and out of a shoe. Breathability is necessary because a shoe lacking in breathability leads to sweaty and cramped feet. In some cases this can even cause blisters, which definitely is not a fun time for any runner. The Adrenaline GTS 15 does not have any major problems in terms of breathability, mainly thanks to the solid design of the upper. The mesh is woven in a way that allows air to flow in and out freely. This mesh design isn’t new by any means, but it certainly gets the job done. The Adrenaline GTS 15 is a decently well ventilated shoe overall.
Comfort
Comfort

Comfort

Every runner should know the importance of comfort when looking at any new shoe. It is vital to remember that a shoe will be worn for many miles, so any discomfort will probably be a long standing problem. The Adrenaline GTS 15 is a fairly comfortable shoe however. The midsole is and the upper are strong components of this. The cushioning midsole material does a great job holding the foot while minimizing discomfort when striking the ground. The upper snugly holds the foot in place, giving a secure feeling. And finally, the overall flexibility of the shoe adds to its comfort as well. The Adrenaline GTS 15 is a fairly comfortable shoe.
Style
Style

Style

In terms of style, Brooks might not be in the same league as juggernauts like Nike and Adidas, but they certainly still hold their own. The Adrenaline GTS 15 has a fairly appealing design, and is offered in a myriad of bright colors for both men and women. For those seeking a running shoe that can double as an everyday shoe, the Adrenaline is probably not the best choice. Overall, the shoes are decently stylish for running shoes, and the color selection is broad.
Durability
Durability

Durability

Durability is definitely something to look at when considering any new shoe. Poor durability leads to worn out shoes, which in turn will need to be replaced. The Adrenaline GTS 15 is a fairly durable shoe, as most trainers from Brooks tend to be. A big factor in this is the HPR rubber located on the outsole. This rubber is high impact resistant, making it stronger and more durable than a traditional outsole. The Crash Pad also helps, with this, providing insulation from impacts for the midsole, which makes that last longer as well. Overall, the durability of these shoes is quite solid, as is to be expected of Brooks trainers.
Protection
Protection

Protection

In regards to protection, the Adrenaline GTS 15 is a solid shoe. The upper is a solid construction and does a good job securing the top of the shoe and protecting from outside elements. The outsole and midsole also do a good job of insulating and stabilizing the foot, and in turn improve the protection of the shoe. The Adrenaline GTS 15 offer good protection overall for the type of neutral trainer they are.
Responsiveness
Responsiveness

Responsiveness

Responsiveness refers to how well a shoe returns energy with every impact on the ground. Basically, this describes how well the shoe responds to a runner’s strides. The responsiveness of the Adrenaline GTS 15 is solid based on the material of the midsole. The BioMoGo DNA foam does a great job returning energy based on the force of the impact. The midsole is unique in this way, as most are made of EVA foam. With that said, the Adrenaline GTS 15 will probably not have as much responsiveness as a more minimalist shoe, considering that it is a more neutral and cushioned trainer.
Support
Support

Support

The Brooks Adrenaline series is well known for offering good support and stability and the Adrenaline GTS 15 is no exception. The aforementioned midsole BioMoGo DNA material is a strong factor in this, as is the Crash Pad located on the outsole. In tandem these support the foot quite well while running, stabilizing and cushioning with every step. The upper is another contributing factor, offering a snug fit that secures the foot well while not being overly restricting. Overall, the support of the Adrenaline GTS 15 is definitely a strong point of the shoe.
Terrain
Terrain

Terrain

The Brooks Adrenaline GTS 15 should be usable on basically any commonly runnable terrains. The construction of the outsole is solid, and offers grips as well, similar to the design in terms of most popular trainers. The Adrenaline GTS 15 should be completely fine to use on all but the most exceptional terrains. Rain should not be a major hindrance either, but the shoes are not waterproof so caution should be exercised when running, and the shoes should be dried appropriately afterword.
Price
Price

Price

Price is another very important factor when considering any pair of running shoes. The price for the Adrenaline GTS 15 is not really a strong or weak point of the shoe. It retails around the price of many common trainers nowadays. This is a bit disappointing when considering that the shoes came out several years ago. That said, the price is still fair for what you get. The shoes are neither a value or expensive, but somewhere in the middle.
Traction
Traction

Traction

Traction of running shoes refers to the ability of them to grip onto different surfaces, which is useful for efficient running. The traction on the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 15 is pretty good. As most running shoes do, the Adrenaline GTS 15 contains a grip on its outsole that helps it stick to surfaces that are commonly run on. In general, traction will be best on road related surfaces like sidewalks, but the shoes should definitely still have solid traction in other terrains like grass or dirt trails. Overall, the traction is solid and shouldn’t cause any major problems.
Flexibility
Flexibility

Flexibility

Flexibility is key in protecting feet from twists and potential strains, and in facilitating good movement. In the case of the Adrenaline GTS 15, the outsole is a strong proponent of its flexibility, as it features grooves which allow for more range of movement. In addition to this, the midsole is fairly flexible as well, thanks again to its unique material which allows it to react to varying amounts of stress accordingly. Finally, the upper is decently flexible with its mesh design, but not amazingly so. The flexibility of the Adrenaline GTS 15 is definitely quite solid.
Stability
Stability

Stability

A shoes stability is indicative of how well the shoe supports a runner’s natural steps, which is important for preventing injury. The Adrenaline GTS 15 is a very stable, neutral shoe based on the strengths of the midsole, outsole and upper. Here the midsole and outsole truly shine. The material of the midsole, in tandem with the Crash Pad on the outsole make for a very smooth and stable ride overall. The upper adds to this with its snug fit around the foot. The Adrenaline GTS 15 is a very stable shoe.
Drop
Drop

Drop

The drop on these shoes is slightly above average for running shoes of this style. Drop refers to the distance from the bottom of the heel. The drop on the Adrenaline GTS 15 is 11 mm, which is arguably a bit high. For most however, it seems to be a matter of preference, as many users have stated that the drop height does not bother them at all. The drop of these shoes shouldn’t be a major source of contention, except for those who prefer a significantly lower drop.

Bottom Line

Overall, the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 15 is a very solid neutral shoe for anyone seeking a new pair of trainers. There aren’t too many things that can be held against it, though in some areas like responsiveness and flexibility, it can only be described as decent. That said, it certainly does excel in other areas, and for the price, the Adrenaline GTS 15 would be a solid shoe for many.
