Asics Gel Nimbus 21 Review Facts
Watch Video Review

Asics does it again with the newest iteration of the Gel Nimbus line of sneakers, giving customers what they asked for after the last version came out. The Nimbus 21 brings you a wider toe box and a roomier forefront to give you a better fit and extra comfort. The newest version also changed up the look and design by creating the upper out of a dual-layered jacquard mesh for added breathability, support, and flexibility. Don’t worry though, you will not lose the things you loved from the previous versions of these shoes, including the FlyteFoam Lyte and Propel technologies which give you a comfortable, lightweight, and responsive ride that runners have grown to love. These sneakers do, unfortunately, weight slightly more than your average lightweight running shoe, but it does not seem to be too bad. If you do not mind paying the slightly steep price tag for an all-around good pair of shoes then you should consider the Asics Gel Nimbus 21 running shoes for your next pair of sneakers.

Weight

When it comes to running shoes you are going to want something that is lightweight. You do not want to be in the middle of a run, especially when running for distance or speed, with weights on the bottom of your feet. You will not have to worry too much about that with these sneakers. They are definitely not the lightest shoes on the market but they do not weigh a whole lot. The Asics Gel Nimbus 21 weighs in at 310 g (10.9 ounces) on average which is not too bad but most sneakers meant for running do try to stay under the 10-ounce mark so keep this in mind.

Responsiveness

Responsiveness of your shoes is very important if you are doing any kind of running, but it is even more essential if you are planning on running for speed and/or distance. If you have a pair of responsive shoes that means that they give you high energy when you are running, so when you take a step your foot will sink into the cushioning of the midsole and then the cushion will quickly pop back into place which will propel you into your next step. The propulsion helps you save a little bit of energy with each step you take which you can later use to help push yourself into running faster and longer, giving you an advantage on race day. All of that being said, the Asics Gel Nimbus 21 running shoes give you an amazing energy return, giving runners the spring in their steps that they love.
