Upper
Upper

Upper

The upper of the GTS 20 is made out of engineered mesh and rubber overlays. If you ever had the honor to feel engineered mesh wrapped around your skin, you will know just how comfortable and freeing that feeling is. Mesh tends to wrap around the wearer's feet, creating an excellent, supportive fit. Mesh is also very breathable, so you won't have to worry about feeling moist in the GTS 20. The rubber overlays strengthen the construction of the mesh, lowering the breathability slightly, but not enough so you can feel the difference. When compared to the GTS 19, the upper of the GTS 20 remained practically the same. It has fewer rubber overlays and a more streamlined design with some extra colorful options. But the main difference is underneath - the lining of the upper feels plush and luxurious. Both the collar and the tongue are padded, securing the ankle and foot in and protecting it from pain.
Midsole
Midsole

Midsole

The midsoles of the GTS 20 have remained unchanged, and that is not a bad thing. Brooks has managed to create the best possible midsoles for all types of runners, and we believe that they have reached perfection. The midsoles are called BioMoGo DNA. They are made out of environmentally friendly materials, but that's not the only reason why they are so special! Brooks engineered a special kind of foam that will change its shape according to your feet. This means that you will receive unparalleled arch support and protection because the midsoles will be shaped to your personal needs. The foam keeps its shape for a long time, offering the same level of support throughout the years. It might feel a bit softer than before if you had the chance to try out the GTS 19, so you will feel the ground underneath you, which can be both a good and a bad thing, depending on what you prefer.

The midsoles have a DNA Loft crash pad, located on the heels. The heels and toes suffer from a lot of damage when we run, but heels tend to suffer more, plus they are the ones responsible for propelling us forward. Brooks is aware of this, and so they installed the Loft crash pad that absorbs shock and minimizes impact, saving your heels from pain. If you suffer from mild to moderate overpronation, the midsoles will be of help thanks to the Guide Rails. These rails are located on the sides, securing your feet and guiding them gently in the correct position.
Outsole
Outsole

Outsole

The outsoles of the GTS have remained unchanged for many years. They are made out of blown rubber. Blown rubber feels squishy and soft, padding you and protecting you from the harsh terrain. It's resistant to abrasion, so you can expect to wear the GTS 20 for a long time without losing your grip and traction. The outsoles have a chevron pattern with a hollowed-out heel. The grooves and canyons help create suction on slippery surfaces, and they also help your foot flex, as they create points where the shoe can bend. The hollowed-out heel is firm and stable, offering support.
Weight
Weight

Weight

We all strive to find a sneaker that is as light as a feather. But know that weight can be beneficial, as it shows you that the shoes can offer better support and protection. That isn't to say that you need to find heavy, clunky shoes - you need to find the right balance. With all that said, know that the GTS 20 is not a lightweight sneaker. The GTS 19 was also on the heavier side, but all that weight was there for a reason. The GTS 20 has special elements that stabilize the foot and protect it, which is something a lightweight sneaker may not be able to offer. The GTS 20 is lighter when compared to its predecessor, but users reported that they didn't feel the difference.
Breathability
Breathability

Breathability

A good running sneaker has to be breathable. If it's not, your socks may become wet, and bacteria or fungus will start to thrive. Wet socks create a lot of friction, potentially causing blisters, and they are the last thing you need when you exercise! Luckily, the GTS 20 is an extremely breathable shoe. Mesh is one of the most breathable materials out there, and the GTS 20 is fully covered with it. The rubber overlays do prevent some of the hot air from escaping, but the overlays are not placed on key locations, so most of the air will escape easily. The foam of the midsoles is porous, so it will let some of the air squeeze through, leaving you dry.
Comfort
Comfort

Comfort

The Adrenaline line is a very popular one thanks to the comfort these shoes provide. The BioMoGo DNA midsoles are the ones almost solely responsible for the amazing cushy feeling you will experience once you pull these running sneakers on. The midsoles will comfortably wrap around the soles, creating a perfect imprint, and the fit will forever be just the way you need it. The engineered mesh is supportive but very flexible, while the lining is soft and plush, gently hugging your skin. The outsoles are flexible and soft, while the padded collar and tongue support your ankles. Just remember that the GTS 20 is a bit on the narrow side, and some users report that the shoes run small, so go for half a size up when buying!
Style
Style

Style

The GTS line was always a good looking one. The design of the sneakers hasn't changed much throughout the years, but we believe that the GTS 20 didn't have a need to change that much. The sneakers look streamlined and urban, with the mesh offering good looks together with the rubber overlays. Brooks seems to love the color blue, so expect to see a lot of blue colorways in varying shades of blue. Some sneakers are gray, black, white, or gold, with overlays and logos that match the color of the round laces. No matter which style you choose, you are sure to look good!
Durability
Durability

Durability

Durability is important for running sneakers, as they must be able to survive the constant abuse and wear and tear damage when you run. The GTS 20 is a durable sneaker, although some users report that it feels flimsy when they wear it. This is just a feeling, as the engineered mesh can survive a lot of damage, plus it has rubber overlays that shield and strengthen it. The blow-rubber outsoles are prone to peeling, but they still offer a good amount of unwavering protection. Finally, the midsoles will retain their shape and padding throughout the years, so at least you don't have to worry about that!
Protection
Protection

Protection

The GTS 20 offers a good level of protection. The rubber that the outsoles are made out of is soft, but it shields you against sharp objects found on the ground, and it protects the heels from damage. Their grippy surface keeps you safe when it's wet and slippery. The engineered mesh protects you from the heat and moisture, but it might not do such a good job in extreme weather conditions, as the wind will blow through the porous layers. The Guide Rails keep your feet aligned properly, while the crash loft pad distributes pressure and weight evenly across the foot.
Responsiveness
Responsiveness

Responsiveness

The BioMoGo DNA midsoles are very responsive. The energy returned to you when you run is enough to give you more speed and a better take off, so your run will be improved and you will reach your goals faster. Brooks claims that their midsoles give twice the energy return when compared to regular foam midsoles! The Crashpad in the heels is responsible for this feeling, as it shields the heels from damage while helping the Achilles tendon do its job without any issues!
Terrain
Terrain

Terrain

The GTS 20 is made for daily running on the roads and sidewalks. The tread pattern of the outsoles is designed to improve traction and grip on solid, flat ground, so taking the GTS 20 out for a spin on the trail might prove to be a problem. The deep grooves and chevron patterns give the foot room to flex while protecting it from wet surfaces. The GTS 20 works best in the city or on the treadmill, so make sure you keep it there to help it remain functional!
Traction
Traction

Traction

The outsoles of the GTS 20 provide excellent traction. The GTS 19 and 20 have a tread pattern that is less aggressive when compared to the GTS 18, but the pattern does the same work without the extra weight and bulk. The chevron pattern and the hollowed-out heel grip wet surfaces and create a stable ground where you can safely stop, turn around, and run full speed.
Value
Value

Value

The GTS 20 is a pricey sneaker, but the price isn't that much different when compared to other popular running sneakers. You can expect to pay about 130 dollars for these sneakers, which is just slightly more than what the previous model goes for. As we said, these models are not all that different, so if you want to save some money, you can go for the GTS 19!
The Final Word
The Final Word

The Final Word

The GTS 20 is an incredible sneaker. The BioMoGo DNA midsoles and the Heel crash pad help support the feet and protect them from pain and stress. The Engineered mesh upper is breathable and flexible, while the rubber overlays improve the construction and give the GTS 20 a streamlined look. The Guide rails support overpronators and neutral runners, while the blown-rubber outsoles provide grip and traction on pavements and slippery roads. The Brooks Adrenaline GTS 20 runs narrow, and it runs small, so be careful about choosing your size!
