Sennheiser CX Sport Bluetooth Earbuds Review Facts
Watch Video Review
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpuhrEOtXXs

The Sennheiser CX Sport Bluetooth wireless earbuds are designed for convenience and comfort during workouts and daily life. While its eye-catching design draws the buyer in, especially the neon accents, its sound quality wins them over. And the use of both regular ear tips, or adapters, and ear fins are intended to make its comfortable in-ear fit even more secure.

One of this headset’s most outstanding qualities is its connectivity, which is powered by Bluetooth and two different forms of apt-X. It includes a pairing listing that can feature up to eight different devices, and buyers can use two at the same time.

As with all products, there are still a few downsides that buyers should take into consideration before making a purchase. Although its six-hour battery life is fine enough for some, there are plenty of reviewers who prefer their devices to last longer than this. And even though it’s marketed as being water and sweatproof, it’s IPX4 rating only allows it to resist light splashes.

Activities

Because of its wireless design, the CX Sport looks like it would be a good choice for more intense workout sessions such as cross-training. Its in-ear design is accompanied by ear fins, which are meant to provide a more secure fit, and it comes with a cinch and a detachable shirt clip to keep the wire out of the way. As an added bonus, it comes with a small neoprene zippered case that provides safe and easy storage for when it's not in use.

However, its water rating of IPX4 means that it can only resist slashes and won't hold up against rain or any length of submersion. Even buyers who only use this set for training have claimed that it's not resistant to continuous sweat. As a result, this headset seems to be best fit for running, jogging, light workouts, and standard activities such as traveling or even work.

Basic Features

The CX Sport consists of a pair of earbuds that feature silicone ear adapters, or tips, as well as curved neon ear fins. While the adapters go into the ear, the fins conform to the curves of the outer ear to ensure that it stays in place. Each one comes in various sizes, which are all included with the set, with the adapters fitting extra small to large and the fins small to large.

Both of these earbuds are attached via a connecting wire. On the right side is a three-button remote with neon buttons, a built-in microphone, and a LED light that alerts the wearer to its connectivity status. A similar unit, which is where is USB charging cable plugs in, is fixed to the other side.

A cinch is attached to the wire to ensure an adjustable fit behind the wearer's head. A shirt clip is also offered for even greater convenience, keeping the wire from getting caught on passing objects. Finally, the entire set comes with a neoprene case to keep everything stored away safely.

Advanced Features

The CX Sport functions fully with help from Bluetooth version 4. which is compatible with almost all smartphones and tablets that are currently sold. And any devices that also use Qualcomm apt-X or apt-X Low Latency can also be paired with this headset.

What's most impressive about this particular headset is that is can have up to eight different devices in its pairing list. Two devices can be used simultaneously while wearing this device, meaning that the wearer can listen to music on one and then pause to take a phone call or video chat on another.

As stated before, it has a water rating of IPX4, which is low compared to many other wireless headsets on the market. It's able to resist small splashes and light amounts of sweat, yet it's not fit for use in the rain or during highly intense workouts.
Sound Quality
Sound Quality

Sound Quality

Most reviewers seem to be very satisfied with CX Sport's overall sound quality. Its frequency response range is listed at 17Hz to 21kHz, which is considered to be average, and its maximum sound pressure level of 112 dB means that it can reach incredibly high volume. Several buyers have also stated that it provides noise cancellation, which is excellent for those who like to tune out during their runs and workouts.

Reviews state that this headset has the incredible quality that they've come to expect from Sennheiser. They've noted that its crisp and clear, with audiophiles complimenting its mids and treble. There are some who aren't satisfied with its bass, although that could be a matter of personal preference.
Connectivity
Connectivity

Connectivity

The CX Sport relies on Bluetooth connectivity, specifically version 4.2, in order to be fully functional. Buyers can easily connect it to their mobile device by charging it up and waiting for the voice prompt as soon as it's turned on. It will automatically go into pairing mode, and the buyer can then go into their device's Bluetooth setting and select this headset.

Buyers can use this same process to pair the headset with as many as seven other devices. It also features the standard wireless range of 33 feet, which means that buyers don't have to feel completely tied down to their smartphone or tablet. They should also be aware that the LED light will flash blue and red when it's in pairing mode and that only two devices can be fully connected at once.

Although its connectivity does work incredibly well, at least in the beginning, multiple buyers have complained that it starts to deteriorate over time. They've noticed the sound cutting out, calls dropping, or even the LED light flashing on and then never going off. This is is most likely due to its lack of water resistant and overall durability.
Comfort
Comfort

Comfort

Although opinions are mixed when it comes to most of the CX Sport's other features, reviewers agree that it does provide very comfortable wear. Both its ear adapters and ear fins are made from a silicone material for non-irritating wear, and the each come in various sizes to ensure that everyone can find their ideal fit. The adapters are offered in sizes extra small to large, while the fins come in sizes small through large.

Other features are included to ensure more satisfying wear. Even though both earbuds are connected by a wire, it also comes with a cinch for a more customized fit behind the runner's head. This, along with a detachable shirt clip, also provides a sense of preventing the wire from becoming caught on passing objects.

The only downside here is that, despite the extra measures to ensure secure wear, this set is known to slip out of the buyer's ears unexpectedly. This, in turn, can make for a very frustrating running or jogging session.
Style
Style

Style

A large number of buyers have complimented the CX Sport for its simple yet eye-catching design. The earbuds themselves each feature a silicon ear adapter, an ear fin, and the brand's logo in the back. A connecting wire runs between both buds, and a cinch is attached for a more customizable fit.

A three-button remote, which also includes a built-in microphone and LED light, is on the right side of the wire. The left side features a unit, the same size as the remote, that the USB charging cable plugs into.

The set is only available in one colorway, black with neon ear fins and buttons. Despite this, buyers seem to enjoy this a lot as it's able to be easily spotted in a pocket or bag yet it's also subtle enough to blend into a wide range of environments.
Durability
Durability

Durability

Reviewers' biggest complaint about the CX Sport is that it's not nearly as durable as it claims to be. Although its listing states that this set is waterproof and sweatproof, multiple buyers have claimed that this set begins to malfunction after wearing it for only a few intense workouts. This also results in issues with battery life and overall connectivity.

It does have a water rating of IPX4, just like other sets from Sennheiser, which allows it to resist small splashes. Unfortunately, this does mean that it's not able to hold up against continuous sweat. As a result, those who need a wireless headset for more intense workouts might want to research models that are made by other brands.
Ease of Use
Ease of Use

Ease of Use

Buyers find the CX Sport to be a very easy headset to set up and use. It's ready to pair once it's taken out and set up, and all the buyer has to go into their device's Bluetooth settings and select this set. This same set-up also works with extra devices, allowing the buyer to pair up to eight of them, and a default pin code can be entered if necessary.

A three-button remote enables the buyers to power the set on and off, control the volume, skip songs, and answer or end phone calls. And the different sizes of ear tips and wings allow everyone to find the fit that works for them.

Of course, this set's lack of durability does make it more difficult to use over time. It can unexpectedly lose connectivity and be difficult to use or even charge fully. It's also known to not stay put while it's being worn, which makes things extremely inconvenient and frustrating during workouts or travel.
Power Source
Power Source

Power Source

The CX Sport comes with a USB charging cable that can easily be plugged into the buyer's laptop or a portable charger, allowing buyers easy access to a power-up even when they're on the go. They can also plug it into an adapter and use a wall outlet if it is most convenient for them.

Buyers are given six hours of battery life after a total charging time of 1.5 hours, and they can also charge for ten minutes to receive an hour of playtime. Although this seems satisfactory to some, others wish that it lasted longer and be more fit for long-distance travel. They have also noticed that its battery life weakens over time, sometimes as little as three weeks, or even that it randomly powers down at certain points.
Price
Price

Price

Just like many high-quality Bluetooth headsets on the market, the CX Sport runs at a very expensive price tag. On the Sennheiser website, and at other online retailers such as Best Buy and B&H, it's set at $130. Even lower prices can be found at eBay and Amazon, just as long as the buyer checks the listing reviews ahead of time.

According to most of the online reviews, buyers generally feel that this set with worth the money they've spent. They enjoy its lightweight and comfortable wear, are impressed with its sound quality and feel that it's incredibly easy to use and store away.

Unfortunately, it's clear that not everyone feels the same way. They claim that it lacks overall durability and connectivity, which only shows that they've wasted their money. And the fact that it doesn't always stay in place while it's being worn only makes matters worse.

Bottom Line

Bottom Line

For the most part, the Sennheiser CX Sport Bluetooth earbuds offer everything that buyers have come to expect from this particular brand. They are very pleased with its eye-catching design and its comfortable in-ear fit, and it offers the same incredible, Hi-Fo sound quality that they enjoyed with other headsets. They also appreciate the act that it can hold up to eight different devices in its pairing list, and it's easy to store away when not in use.

With all of this said, buyers are still concerned about this headset's lack of durability. It doesn't quite have the sweat and water-resistance that's listed, and its connectivity and sound suffer as a result. Furthermore, wearers are frustrated that the earbuds often fall out while they're on the go.

It's best to check all of the listing's ratings and reviews before finally making a purchase. Once they're confident in what they're about to buy and check the site's return policy, then they should definitely take the chance on this wireless headset.
