CBD Oil The Benefits of CBD Oil

CBD is an all-natural medicine currently being used to treat many conditions. Also known as cannabidiol, CBD is one of the many cannabinoids found in the marijuana plant. Although many people associate marijuana with getting “high”, cannabidiol is one of the compounds that do not produce this psychoactive component. New research has shown the positive effects of this remedy on many symptoms including pain, insomnia, anxiety, and skin problems, among others. The fact that this drug is completely natural makes it more appealing to the general population as it limits the amount and intensity of side effects that are caused by many of the pharmaceutical drugs out on the market. Before considering including this compound in your treatment for any condition, it is best to understand its uses and side effects.

Pain Reliever

For longer than most people believe, marijuana has been used to treat pain. Recent studies have concluded that it is the CBD compound that is responsible for this role. The CBD works physiologically by influencing the body’s endocannabinoid system. This system is responsible for regulating pain, sleep, immune function, and appetite. Impacting the system, CBD causes the neurotransmitters to adjust their signals for these functions. As with most studies, rats were used initially to conclude these results, but over the last few years, many studies have been done on those with multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis. Both of these conditions resulted in less frequency and intensity of pain with the use of CBD oil in the form of an oral spray.

Anxiety and Depression Treatment

These two conditions are unfortunately significantly common in our world today. They are poorly understood problems and can begin taking form naturally as well as in conjunction with another chronic disorder. Many people suffering from cancer, chronic pain conditions, a physical disability, or any other terminal illness are likely to develop some sort of anxiety or depression. The medications commonly used to treat these conditions often cause numerous side effects such as agitation, sleep problems, headaches, and drowsiness. On top of the side effects, many of these pharmaceutical drugs are addictive and cause substance abuse. CBD may be the answer to avoiding these side effects, as it works with serotonin, the brain’s receptors that are in charge of regulating mood and behavior. Its role in serotonin regulation can help create a better balance in the body to assist with improved sleep, social interaction, and mood.

Relief of Cancer Symptoms

Living with cancer comes with unfortunate side effects, not only from the condition itself but the treatment one must undergo. Severe pain, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, and loss of appetite are just a few of these side effects. There are many drugs given to patients with cancer to help with these gastrointestinal issues, but often times they fail to provide any relief. Studies have shown combining CBD with tetrahydrocannabinol, which is one marijuana compound that may produce psychoactive effects, has shown to be effective at relieving nausea and vomiting in many cases. Recent studies on the use of CBD in test tube animals has shown to inhibit the spread of cancer cells, but more research is needed in this area to conclude any anti-cancer abilities of this compound.

Acne Treatment and Prevention

Skin disorders are also on the list of conditions that may benefit from CBD use. Studies have shown that the anti-inflammatory properties from CBD oil can help prevent the over-secretion of oils in the skin that is responsible for producing acne. This may also be good news for those who suffer from this condition and have relied on prescription medications for temporary relief, which may cause several side effects. CBD oil is an all-natural topical agent, therefore providing localized treatment, rather than the ingesting of a drug to treat acne that will also produce systemic effects.

Unfortunately, many who are prescribed medications become either addicted or develop side effects that lead to more medication use. Since technology and medicine is causing people to live longer, this means many are living longer with their chronic illnesses and relying on medication to keep them in a stable status. Older people are often on several medications at one time and for the long term. Many of the drugs they are taking daily are actually drugs given to treat side effects from the initial medications they were prescribed over the course of years. Introducing CBD in its many forms for specific conditions or side effects from medications can limit the number of drugs these people are putting in their bodies on a daily basis. It is wise to always speak with your doctor before using CBD or anything similar in place of current medications. The research done on this drug is rather recent; therefore long-term effects have not been evaluated. This compound is not for everyone and should be carefully considered before using.
