Timex’s Ironman Transit timer watch is an excellent choice for those who are active yet want something relatively simple. Although men’s and women’s models are shaped and sized differently, they both include all of the same materials and features. In addition, both still feature a lightweight and modern design that proves to be surprisingly durable.

As stated before, this model includes a countdown timer as well as a customizable alarm to aid and enhance the buyer’s runs and workouts. It also comes with a ten-lap counter so runners can better keep track of their progress. Activities

The Ironman Transit makes an incredible workout watch for those who don’t want a lot of additional features. It includes a timer, stopwatch, and lapcounter to assist the wearer as they jog and train, all of which could be especially useful before big competitions.

Its durable wear allows it to constant usage And because it’s water resistant in up to 100 meters, buyers can also track of their swimming workouts or simply wear it on a casual day to the beach or pool. This also means that jogs through heavy rain can’t damage this surprisingly durable watch.

While it seems to be durable enough for use in more rugged environments, its lack of any wireless connection might scare some buyers away from using it while they’re off the grid. Those who are much more active, or are required to stay connected throughout the day would be better off finding a smartwatch.

Basic Features

The Ironman Transit has a slightly squared casing and wristband that are both made from resin for increased durability. Its movement and markings are completely digital, making it easy for buyers to read the time and date that are always displayed on the face. It even comes complete with a customizable alarm for use during both sleep and various fitness routines, as well as a countdown timer for even greater assistance during training.

This watch is outfitted with five separate buttons, and all are clearly labeled with their designated function. There are three to set, start, and stop the timer/stopwatch feature, as well as one change the mode and another to turn on the INDIGLO Night Light. The men’s model has two buttons on the left side and three on the left, while the women’s model has one button at each corner of the casing and one at the bottom center.

Advanced Features

Like many other Timex watches, the Ironman Transit features the brand’s INDIGLO Night Light. It’s easily activated by using by pressing the specialized button and allows for easier all-around reading and usage in low-light environments.

Its stopwatch is also considered to be more advanced than average thanks to its ten-lap memory. It’s able to record and retain the times of the runner’s past ten laps to help them better keep track of their progress, which really comes in handy while training for a big upcoming race.

In addition, those who follow Military Time will be glad to know that this watch has a mode that allows it to easily switch over to fit their preferences.
Accuracy
Accuracy

Accuracy

Not much information can be found that describes the Ironman Transit’s overall level of accuracy. But what little there is suggests that it consistently maintains accurate time no matter which mode the wearer uses. It’s also excellent at keeping up with the current date and can efficiently track the exact time of each of the runner’s last ten laps.
Connectivity
Connectivity

Connectivity

According to the Ironman Transit’s multiple online listings and reviews, it does not offer buyers any form of wireless connectivity. This means that they won’t be able to receive any sort of text messages, emails, or be notified of incoming calls or social media updates as they come in.

Some buyers consider this to be a good thing, as it allows them to completely disconnect during workouts and focus solely on their chosen activity. However, those who live more active lifestyles or frequently partake in different forms of outdoor recreation feel more at ease when they’re connected. Therefore, a smartwatch would be a much better option for these particular buyers.
Apps
Apps

Apps

Because it offers no wireless connectivity, the Ironman Transit doesn’t offer any apps. There are some buyers who would consider its stopwatch, lap-counting features, and INDIGO Night Light to be apps since they are specialized features that aren’t offered on many models. However, since they can’t be removed and don’t require any sort of connection to work, they can’t be classified as such.

As a result, many buyers find this watch to be on the simpler side compared to the smartwatches that are released today. Still, it’s clear that they greatly appreciate how much its added features aid and enhance their runs and workouts.
Comfort
Comfort

Comfort

Reviews seem to be very mixed when it comes to the Ironman Transit’s level of comfort. For the most part, buyers seem to be satisfied with the feel of its resin wristband and the overall size of its casing. They’re also happy with how lightweight it is since it doesn’t get in the way of more intense workouts.

On the other hand, there are quite a few buyers who claim that its band cuts into their wrist due to the way that it’s shaped. As a result, they’ve concluded that it’s not meant for all wrist shapes and there is very little that can be done about this model’s overall design. While most watches can easily switch out their silicone or resin band for one that’s made from fabric, this one’s overall design might make that a little difficult to achieve.
Style
Style

Style

There is a noticeable design difference between the men’s and women’s Ironman Transit. While the men’s version features a casing and band are that are clearly two separate units, and have been attached to each other, the women’s version looks more like one uniform piece. There is also an obvious size difference, as the men’s is larger, and the buttons have a different configuration.

Either way, both versions have been praised for their modern and simplistic design that easily fits into a number of different environments. Both are made from the same materials and carry all of the exact same features, including the five-button control and digital displays.

As for the colors, each design is available in three different options for buyers to choose from. Men’s sizes offer black, blue, and green, while women can pick between black, purple, and white.
Durability
Durability

Durability

Multiple reviews show that the Ironman Transit is a surprisingly durable watch, thanks almost entirely to its resin casing and wristband. Since this material is far more resistant to potential damage than fabric and even silicone, it’s able to better maintain its shape over time and give the wearer a lot more bang for their buck. And the fact that it’s water resistant in up to 100 meters means that it can safely and easily be worn at the beach or pool or during a run through heavy rains.
Face
Face

Face

A surprisingly durable acrylic is used to form the Ironman Transit’s lens, which is square-shaped with very rounded corners. It’s casing, bezel, and buttons are all made from resin to further protect against potential damage, and this feature comes in different measurements for both men’s and women’s versions. While the men’s casing is 40.5mm in diameter and 12.3mm thick, the women’s casing is 33mm in diameter and 11mm thick.
Band
Band

Band

The Ironman Transit’s wristband is made from a similar type of resin that forms its casing. The only major difference is that this one is more pliable to enable easier slip-through and adjustment for all buyers. It’s also fastened by use of a traditional buckle, which is made from stainless steel to ensure a truly durable hold.

This band is listed as being 20mm thick for the men’s version and 12mm thick for the women’s version. Their lengths are also listed as men’s and women’s standard, meaning that they can fit wrist sizes up to eight and seven inches respectively.
Size
Size

Size

According to its Amazon listing, the Ironman Transit is slightly heavier than some of Timex’s simpler watches. Reviewers don’t seem to notice the extra fraction of an ounce, however, as they claim that it still feels lightweight and does not get in the way of workouts or daily life. And because it doesn't include any fabric materials, it won't feel heavier when it's used during a swim.

It should also be pointed out that there is a noticeable size difference between men’s and women’s models. Their bands are 20mm and 12mm wide respectively, and their cases are measured at 1.6 in. and 1.3 in. in diameter. And while the men’s watch weighs in at 1.6 oz., the women’s version weighs just under a full ounce.
Ease of use
Ease of use

Ease of use

For the most part, the Ironman Transit seems to be very easy to use. The time and date are showcased prominently across the face, and each of its five buttons have been clearly labeled with their designated function. Even changing the battery is made easier thanks to instructions given on the inside of the watch.

Unfortunately, multiple buyers across multiple platforms have claimed that they struggled with setting up the time and date when they first bought this model.
Power Source
Power Source

Power Source

Like most watches that are on the market, the Ironman Transit relies on a single lithium ion battery to keep it continuously powered up. This means that there is no need to charge it ahead of time or keep tabs on how much energy it has left. Each watch even comes with instructions for replacing the battery, which is made easier with the presence of multiple online tutorials.

While it does prove to be more convenient for most buyers, the thought of having to replace the battery or reset it completely is still daunting to a large number of buyers. There also doesn’t seem to be any online information that details how long this watch is supposed to stay powered up in between each replacement.
Price
Price

Price

For all that it offers, the Ironman Transit manages to be a surprisingly affordable watch. It can be found on the Timex website for only $50, which is the same price that’s listed on all of its Amazon and REI listings. Other retailers such as Target, Walmart, and Bed Bath & Beyond are known to offer it for less than $40, as do multiple listings on eBay

Considering its durable and versatile wear, and how easy it is to read, it doesn’t come as much of a surprise that buyers find this watch to be an incredible bargain. It’s also understandable when one realizes how simple it is compared to the more technologically advanced options that are now available to buyers.

Some were still disappointed, however, when they finally put it on and realized that they weren’t happy with its level of comfort. If trying this model on is not an option, then it’s a good idea to check the retailer’s return policy before making a purchase.

Bottom Line
Bottom Line

Bottom Line

For the most part, the Timex Ironman Transit has been highly rated across the board. Its simple yet modern design allows it to blend in with multiple environments, from frequent use in water to constant wear for everyday living. And buyers are extremely impressed with just how much its timer, stopwatch, and customizable alarm can improve the overall quality of their workouts.

With that said, this model is still not without its flaws. The shape and design of its resin wristband has proven to be too uncomfortable for multiple buyers. And those who aren't used to this particular design might find it hard to set up when they first purchase it. Still, it's clear that those who are satisfied have made this watch one of their primary tools for both fitness and daily living.
