Under Armour SpeedForm Amp 2.0 Review Facts
Watch Video Review

Under Armour stepped up their game when they upgraded their SpeedForm AMP shoe to the newest iteration. They, of course, kept the same great AMP and SpeedForm technologies of the original, but they added a lot of new features to make the workouts of their wearers better. They improved the upper of the shoe to a new, lighter woven material for added comfort and support while still keeping it durable enough for even the most intensive workouts. They added a new floating space located in the midfoot area of the shoe to allow for more natural movement of your feet giving you additional flexibility and support. Under Armour kept the outsole very similar to the original with the same rubber material, but they added some unique patterns to the treads, with bumps, or “spikes”, on the bottom for superior traction and better transition from one surface to another.

Below you will read a summary of them:

Positive
  • These are a really clean looking shoe and design. They are great for fast movement but a little sloppy on the laterals. Great for doing squats with a solid form. These shoes are really responsive to most things and are comfortable.
  • I have to say, I won’t be buying Nike Any more. These are so much better and cheaper. They are exactly the same, if not more durable, and they are light and hold the ground to my feet. I am so stoked to find these.
  • These fit great and to size. These have been a near perfect shoe. No issues with rubbing or on an off like I have read. I really cannot find an issue with these.
  • These fit like a Nike, they run a bit small. The material is really well made but the sole seems to be a bit weak. I wouldn’t use them for too much outdoor activity but have proven to be a great indoor sport shoe.
  • The color is way off. However, the shoe is mad comfy. Thy really work well with fast movements and weight lifting. Id say they are a sock that holds you to the ground. I love this training shoe.
  • These have great support and an all over glove like fit. Thy work great at the gym. I’d say these were made for people who frequent the gym. I will be buying them again.
  • These are like an extra layer of skin, thy fit so good. I have high arches, which they support. They are a bit awkward at first getting on and off but not a deal breaker.
  • I was so ecstatic with these when I got them. They are just like everyone said and the pics didn't do them justice, they look great These are some of the best training shoes out there. They are firm, light and supportive. The have a great internal support and comfort. They hold up to cardio and lifting and wok great with some crossfit moves. These are the best.
  • Comfortable, stable and fashionable. I am so happy with these and that I can wear them daily. They are a great crossfit shoe for sure.
  • The price is unbelievable for the quality. They are stylish and comfortable.I ended up buying 5 more pair.
  • It was a bit awkward at first. They fit great though. They fit secure and comfortable. They offer great support for all sorts of gym type workouts. Super awesome cross training shoes. Very happy with the shoe.
  • These shoes have great grip and are working great as my table tennis shoes. They absorb shock really well and are responsive and secure with sudden movements.
  • These fit a bit snug compared to my other UA shoes. I haven't had any other issues with this shoe They are secure and comfortable. I use these to lift in and they are so sound and solid. I wouldn’t run in these.
  • These have an epic floor grip. I bout them for the gym and lifting and man do they hold up. They are supportive and comfortable all over my foot. They are secure in all the right spots. I am pleased.
  • These are a very practical and affordable shoe. They are responsive and stick to the ground great. They breathe really well too. I will be buying these until they stop making them.
  • I love the glove like fit and the shoe is so comfortable it is unbelievable for the price.
  • These are working great for all my action training: lunges , running, jumping. I wouldn’t use them on pavement, you might lose the sole faster They were made for the gym.
  • They look nice on and fit perfect. Great, affordable gym shoe.
  • These area flat shoe with a lot of lateral support. I do lifting and crossfit and these work great for both. They are for a person with high arches and although I have flat feet they seemed to work. The tongue needs some getting used to, it is alike a burrito.
  • Super consistent with their sizing, always. UA s really surpassing all expectations with each new shoe. They are affordable and stylish and comfortable. You cannot get a better shoe for the gym.
Negative
  • These lacked cushioning and they were really narrow, They looked worse than the photo and didn't really make me feel happy after I put them on and used them a bit. Nope.
  • The grip was failing a lot. They suck putting on and taking off. I do not see me getting used to that at all. Not the shoe for me AT ALL.
  • They are hot and hard to get on and off. I do fitness for a living and know a good shoe, this is not a good shoe. It only has the arch support going for it.
  • There is a gap in the arch and makes it uglier in person. They on and off is a pain in the ass. Wearing the shoe I tell you, it is not stable.
  • These shoes hurt a lot. They rub everywhere and gave me ankle cuts. I like the look but man they failed in comfort.
  • There is a plastic thing in the shoe and they hurt. It rubs and makes cuts, not blisters. They suck for squats and lunges, I felt teetery.
  • The heel is not stable. It makes me feel wobbly like there is a pebble in there. When looking down on the shoe, it looks funny on my foot.
  • His shoe is for noodle feet. Skinny little shoes and not comfortable at all. The soles are really stiff and hurts to use them.
  • These look really nice but the flaw is in the tongue design. It rolls in and causes really large hot spots on the foot. Blister factory.
  • The shoe is a pain to get on. These shoes were such a flop. The laces sucked, the sole sucked, they just sucked and I am disappointed.

Outsole
Outsole

Outsole

The outsole of the Under Armour SpeedForm AMP 2.0 is made out of rubber and is made to withstand a strong grip on a wide variety of surfaces. The outsole of the shoe is lined with flex grooves for added flexibility and traction for the wearer. The bottom is lined with a unique pattern of little bumps, or "spikes", to help with additional traction and durability.
Midsole
Midsole

Midsole

The midsole of the Under Armour SpeedForm Amp 2.0 is made with a very thin layer of EVA foam sandwiched between the outsole and upper of the shoe. The EVA foam provides the shoe with some cushioning while still protecting the foot from anything sharp and hard their feet may come into contact with. The thin layer of foam in the midsole of these shoes is perfect for quick and powerful movements. In addition to the EVA, the midsole is low and firm which is ideal to keep your ankles from rolling while running or to keep you from tripping while working out. The midsole has additional EVA foam in the middle of the sole that never even touches the ground, it is there to give the shoe more stabilization and additional flexibility while still supporting your arch.
Upper
Upper

Upper

As the name suggests, the Under Armour used the SpeedForm technology in the construction of the upper of these shoes. This simply means they use a stabilizing heel cup along with snugger textiles to make the shoes more flexible and precise. The upper is made with lightweight woven materials with additional synthetic materials fused in for added strength and durability in the high-stress areas.
Weight
Weight

Weight

These lightweight shoes are perfect for all different cross-training workouts. Whether you are running short distances, lifting weights, or doing yoga, these shoes are light on your feet. On average, these shoes weigh in at 9.32 ounces which is fairly light for a training shoe. You are not going to want to use these shoes as strictly a running shoe, as they are slightly on the heavy side for straight running, but they are perfect for transitioning between various exercises. The woven knit materials of the upper and the thin foam layer of the midsole help to keep the weight down on these shoes to keep the wearer happy and light.
Breathability
Breathability

Breathability

Even though the uppers of these shoes are made from woven materials, there is still some problem with the ventilation and breathability of these shoes. The Under Armour SpeedForm AMP 2.0 is breathable, but it could be better. The large, unconventional burrito shaped tongue of the shoe, as well as additional straps on the forefront area of the shoe, prevent some of the ventilation to your feet while out on the run. The shoes may not be the best when it comes to breathability, but they do offer a moisture-wicking sock liner which will help keep your feet cool inside the shoe to help make up for the limited ventilation.
Comfort
Comfort

Comfort

If you are looking for a good comfortable shoe to do a lot of long distance running in, then these shoes may not be the best option for you. There is little cushioning in the Under Armour SpeedForm AMP 2.0 and that works out perfect if you want something that is good for cross training. There is a thin layer of EVA in the midsole, so there is some cushioning, just not a lot. It is important to note that there is EVA foam in the midfoot area of the midsole, but it never touches the ground so it will do nothing to give you additional comfort, it is more there to help with stability, flexibility, and support. Unfortunately, these shoes are not comfortable right from the box, and you do need to take a couple runs in them to break them in. The good news, though, is that once they are broken in, they fit like a sock and many customers have said that they are comfortable at that point.
Style
Style

Style

The SpeedForm Amp 2.0 is an all around good looking shoe. Customers have commented that not only are these shoes wonderful in the gym, but they are also stylish while outside of the gym as a casual shoe. They do not have to be strictly worn for workouts. These shoes come in a wide variety of colors for you to choose from. Customers have commented that these shoes are great due to the fact that they not only perform well in the gym, but they also look good for your everyday activities.
Durability
Durability

Durability

The Under Armour SpeedForm AMP 2.0's seem to hold up really well under stress, as they are quite durable. The outsole of the shoe features "spikes" for added traction, and they will wear down after a little time, but the shoes keep most of their pattern on the bottom to keep the outsoles in good shape. The cushioning, though light, does not seem to wear down very quickly either and the shoes prove to stay comfortable during your workouts. These shoes were made to last and they do.
Protection
Protection

Protection

It is important for any shoe to provide you with adequate protection to keep yourself safe from injury as well as protect the shoe itself from prematurely falling apart. The Under Armour SpeedForm Amp 2.0 has both of those covered. There are a lot of features of these shoes that are made to help protect the runner, from the reflective features on the upper which keep you safe if you are running into the evening, to the traction on the outsole that prevents you from slipping while working out. The shoe also has a lot of features that make these extremely durable and helps to prevent premature wear and tear of the shoes. They use synthetic materials fused into parts of the upper to help increase the strength of the shoe, as well as, cushioning in the midsole that can handle even the toughest of workouts without wearing down too quickly.
Responsiveness
Responsiveness

Responsiveness

The midsole of the Under Armour SpeedForm Amp 2.0 may be made of a thin layer of EVA foam, but that does not mean that there is no rebound in the shoe. These shoes may not be as responsive as other shoes that are made for running, but they are perfect for a training shoe. There is some rebound to help the wearer with that little bounce back they need when doing quick, explosive workouts. They are not ideal for longer runs that are meant for speed, but they are fantastic for your daily training sessions.
Support
Support

Support

The Under Armour SpeedForm AMP 2.0 has a wide base and has a solid cushioning that gives these shoes great support and will help prevent you from wobbling while you are doing heavy lifts. The way the midsole is made, it sticks out past the upper so that when you are lifting the shoes will keep you from teetering, and that is not something any weightlifter would want to happen while lifting heavy.
Terrain
Terrain

Terrain

The Under Armour SpeedForm AMP 2.0 shoes can transition well to a wide array of surfaces. These shoes are perfect for those who regularly transition from running to one of many other cross-training activities. These shoes hold their own; whether on a court shooting hoops, running on a track, or under a squat rack. No worries of slipping and losing your grip if you stick to these conditions. It is not recommended, however, to use these shoes while running in areas with deep grass, especially if it is wet, as the grip on these shoes may not hold up the best in those conditions.
Price
Price

Price

The Under Armour SpeedForm AMP 2.0 are a little pricey for a training shoe, the manufacturers suggested retail price (MSRP) comes in at $119.99. Even though this is the most commonly seen price, it does not mean that you will not be able to find it cheaper across the internet. It is definitely a good training shoe and customers have commented that they are worth the money they paid for them.
Traction
Traction

Traction

These shoes feature a traction pattern on the bottom that is great for the front to back movements but not so much for the side to side movements. The Under Armour SpeedForm AMP 2.0 is a good shoe for cross training. The shoes will hold a good grip in the weight room and when moving outside to run on grass they are able to dig in a little bit; however, they do not do much to prevent slipping for quick lateral movements or when running through deep grass, especially if it is wet at all.
Flexibility
Flexibility

Flexibility

The outsole of the Under Armour SpeedForm Amp 2.0 features strategically placed flex grooves along the bottom to give the shoe some much needed and appreciated flexibility for the wearer. Nobody wants a shoe that is going to prohibit their movement while trying to work out. These shoes allow for more natural movement of the foot while still being able to protect your feet and ankles. The shoes also feature a cutout in the midfoot area to allow for added flexibility.
Stability
Stability

Stability

The stability, according to many reviews and customer comments, is the best feature of these shoes. There are many features that Under Armour has added to their SpeedForm AMP 2.0's to help make these shoes as stable as possible for even the toughest of workouts. Stability is especially important for shoes that are going to be used for cross-training because you are switching between various activities and you are going to need a shoe that is going to keep up with you. These definitely deliver. The window that is located under the midfoot allows the arch of your foot to move more freely which helps with anyone who might have problems with overpronation, supination (under pronation), or high arches.
Drop
Drop

Drop

The drop of a shoe is basically how fat or thick the shoe's heel is. It is just the measurement of how much taller the heel is than the forefront of the foot in the shoes. The drop of the Under Armour SpeedForm AMP 2.0 comes in at only 2 mm. You are going to want a shoe with a low drop if you are looking for a training shoe. The flatter the training shoe the more flexible it will be and it will allow for a wider range of movement. These shoes are not quite a zero-drop shoe so if you are looking for a completelyflat training shoe, these will not work for you.
