What are some causes of cramps?

I have a leg problem since July of 2017 which keeps coming back every now and then, I thought it would go away resting for weeks but it doesn’t. Haven’t tried consulting an ortho because I thought it’s just a simple leg cramps, can anyone tell me what causes cramps and how to avoid it?

How to do burpees?

My name is Gerry, 49 years old, working in a real estate company, I used to work out in a gym 5 days a week, but when my trainer asked me to do sets of burpees, I think that he gave me the work program and didn’t consider my age. I’m here to ask you guys if is it still advisable for my age and how to do burpees properly? Need your opinion on this. Thanks

How many miles should you run a week to train?

I have a marathon booked in for December 2018, but before that I have registered a 10k run in May, want to try a half marathon between July and October. I’ve been running properly for a 10 months now but don’t consider myself an experienced runner but I am confident that I can run 6 miles comfortably. I was just wondering how many miles should I be running in a week? Should I be doing specific techniques for me to run faster?

How often should I change my running shoes?

I’ve been running for about a year now and still using the same running shoes (Saucony) – I am running for about 5km at least three times a week and currently aiming for a 10k race!

I was a bit curious about how often should I change my running shoes? I don’t have any problems with it, they are fine but a bit dirty.

How Can I Move My Bowels Before A Race?

I’ve never made this an issue before, but now it happens every time I run. I usually run late in the afternoon, and that means, I’ve been able to poop in the morning. However, whenever I’m in my 3 miles run, I get the urge and often have to go back at home. Do you have any ideas on how to make myself poop before a race or just a simple run?

Watch for Running and Training

I’m preparing a test to be a firefighter that includes some running, swimming and strength demonstrations. My training in running is based on intervals such as 4x 300m hard, 1:30m soft, 4x 400m hard, 1:30m soft and so on.  Also, I would like to be able to track my swim training, especially the time and distance of each workout.  Will this all be possible with the Polar m200 or are there other watches I can consider?

How Do Get More Motivated to Run?

I’ve been running for quite some time now and I’m used to running with a group of people. However, in a few months or so, I’m going to be on my own because I have to leave town for work. I want to continue running in the morning, however I don’t feel like doing it alone. Can you give me some good advice on how to stay motivated to run during the morning (specifically running alone)?

How to Lose Weight While Running?

I weigh 210 pounds, and I just started running. I run for at least 1 hour (5 minutes run, 5 minutes walk). I want to do more of it because I want to lose weight. But I am also wondering how to lose weight by running effectively? Are there any specifics as to how I can burn more calories?

What Kind of Shoes Should I Buy?

So, I am looking to buy some shoes, but I’m not sure what to buy.

For information, I am a 5’8″ (172.73 cm) male, ~170-172 pounds (77.56 kg). I am a college student who walks a lot, barely any running, but I get a lot of aches and pain. The main source is arch pain (plantar fasciitis). It gets so bad that it’s hard to even get out of bed without it burning like fire. I also get shin splints fairly often because I fast-walk a lot (really, I only fast walk) and I get some ankle pain as well. I also have constant blisters/calluses. I do have bad back/neck pain, but I think that’s mainly due to very poor posture. I’m not sure how influential that is for shoes, but just throwing that out there as well.

I’ve taken some running shoe tests, but that’s not because I’m only looking for running shoes; it’s just to get information on how I walk.

I have a low arch, when standing straight, my legs angle in (toes point in), barefoot-like shoes absolutely murder my feet, so I’m pretty confident that I need a lot of support/cushioning, and I have slightly wider feet, so if there’s a 2E size, that would be perfect; otherwise, I can probably do 1/2 size up. I believe I have moderate overpronation. I have pretty flat feet and have a mid-foot strike.

Any sneaker recommendations? I’ve found the Brooks Transcend 4, Brooks Adrenaline GTS 17, and Asics Kayano 24, but since I don’t really run, I’m not sure if they’d be the best fit.

However, it is to my understanding that running shoes are generally more comfortable than casual shoes, even for just walking long distances. Is this accurate?

I also remember that walking shoes exist. They’d probably be better for me, right? Do they provide more support than running shoes?

How Do I Stop Tight Legs And Cramps While Running?

I have recently been having problems with my upper right leg, including a recurring cramp in my lower hip, as well as in my upper quad, and a feeling of tightness when I run at high intensity for sustained periods. As a 5k runner, this is a huge hindrance, as the tightness tends to hit me right around the beginning of the third mile and has kept me from keeping my pace in the last mile of my last few races. I have done some icing and rolling and I usually stretch after running, but is there anything else I can do? Thanks!

How Can I Improve Team Dynamics And Overall Chemistry?

I am the captain of the men’s team at New England College and it is my first year as a captain. My team is, well, all over the place when it comes down to talent, experience, and how we interact with others. Our coach makes us work hard, which I have no problem with; I actually like it. But my teammates aren’t. College sports are challenging and require a lot of work but it doesn’t mean that we can’t have fun and I can tell that my teammates aren’t having any fun. We can come closer together if I can create opportunities for that but I don’t know how. Plus, being a captain only gives me so much power over what we do, but I feel bad about it. I guess my question is, What can I do to fix a team dynamic that has become so skewed without over-doing?
