Editor’s Conclusion
If you are an endurance athlete or training for an Iron Man or a Triathlon, you may want to step up your recovery game with the Rapid Reboot. Sore muscles occur when tiny tears appear in the muscle tissue when training. While over-the-counter medicine works to alleviate symptoms, they don’t really help your muscles to quickly repair.

These sleeves work by increasing blood flow to the affected muscle groups and work to soothe as they repair. If you need to train daily to prepare for an upcoming race, Rapid Repair will help your muscles repair more quickly, leaving you refreshed and ready to hit the road the following day. It may come in at a pretty steep price tag, but for serious athletes that want to push themselves past their limits, they are worth every penny.

Below, I wanted to take a deep dive into all of the advanced features that make the Rapid Recovery System worth every penny for serious athletes that don’t have time to wait for their muscle soreness to go away on their own.

COMPRESSION

One of the things that make Rapid Recovery stand out from other compression systems is the various settings that help to safely and effectively send blood to affected muscles. It allows users to adjust the pressure settings to up to 10 different levels. The lowest setting sends 20 mm of mercury to your legs, while the highest setting sends an impressive 200 mm of mercury to your legs. Overall, 80 mm of pressure is sufficient to properly repair muscle tissues, and there is little scientific evidence that claims more than 80 works any better, or any faster. Anything above 80 boils down to a matter of personal preference, but I like that Rapid Recovery gives you the option.

It also has two different settings that work a little differently. Recovery mode A targets each individual zone. It sends pressure to your feet, releases it, and then works upwards to your calves, knees, and thighs. Mode B works the same way by targeting each section, but instead of releasing pressure in your feet, it holds the pressure as it works up your body. It’s important to note that many physical therapists feel that Mode B is the most effective of the two settings.

PORTABILITY

Overall, this design is made to take with you on the go. The main compression chamber weighs in at 6 pounds, which is slightly heavier than most. If you are popping this unit into your gym bag, you will certainly notice the extra weight added to your gear. The good news, however, is that this system also comes with a very compact carrying case that holds not only the leg sleeves but also the main compression chamber as well as the cords needed to operate. Rapid Recovery also offers a larger duffel bag for an additional cost that will carry your main unit as well as additional accessories.

POWER SOURCE

You will need to be near a wall outlet to use this device because it is not battery-powered. While this may seem like a bummer, it’s actually a testament to how powerful and effective this unit performs. Battery-powered designs exist, but they just don’t offer the same level of power as Rapid Recovery. While you will need to be tethered to a wall outlet at all times, you can feel confident that this system is offering the same level of compression from start to finish. Battery-powered options often start to lose compression power as the battery life starts to drain.

SIZE

Rapid Recovery knows that not all athletes are built the same. This compression system is offered in 5 different sizing options, that range from extra small all the way up to extra large. The extra small accommodates users that are 5 feet tall, and the extra-large is built for users that are 6’3’’ and up. Each leg-sleeve comes with dual zippers that allow you to make slight adjustments to the width of the leg as well. It even includes a velcro strap along the top to ensure that these sleeves stay in place as they start to work their magic!

While you need to be close to a wall outlet to use this device, Rapid Recovery offers long cables so you can find the perfect spot to recover. The wall cable measures to be around 5 feet long, and the leg cable measures to be 4 feet long, which gives you around 9 feet of cable to work with so you won’t need to sit directly next to a wall outlet to use this recovery system.

USE

While this system comes with a comprehensive user manual to help you learn about all of the different user settings, you likely won’t even need to crack the cover. The settings on the main unit are clearly labeled, and allow you to make quick and easy adjustments as needed. Users can adjust the pressure settings up to 10 levels, but many users max out at around 100 mm of pressure. Pressure settings from 20-80 are made for modest recovery, and anything over 80 is where the blood really starts moving!

The pressure system is broken down into 4 different chambers in your legs, which include the feet, calves, knees, and thighs. In action, it slowly builds pressure in your feet, and then works up through your legs for effective compression. By slowly building pressure in your feet, you can play a bit with the pressure settings to ensure that it isn’t too intense or too weak.

ADVANCED FEATURES

There are a few advanced features that really make the Rapid Reboot recovery system stand out from the pack. One of the things that I find is unique about this system is the two recovery modes offered. Recovery Mode A works for each individual muscle group at a time. If you have been on your feet all day and just want to send a little compression to your feet (or any of the other 4 chambers), this compression system lets you do just that. If you want comprehensive compression to your entire leg, Recovery Mode B is designed to target your entire leg, taking one zone at a time until your entire leg is compressed.

What users also love about this system is that it offers three different time settings so you don’t have to keep looking at the clock. The three different time settings include a 10, 20, and 30 minutes setting. Simply set the time and compression mode, and let this smart little device do all of the recovery work for you!

ACCESSORIES

This system includes the pressure pump, two leg sleeves, and a carrying case so you can take your compression game with you on the go. What I love most about this system from Rapid Recovery is that the main pressure pump is also comparable with many of the additional accessories offered in their lineup. While the leg sleeves are a godsend for endurance runners, they also include hip sleeves and arm sleeves that are ideal for the days where you hit the gym and need a little extra recovery for tired hips and arms.

These accessories clock in at a modest price tag, and their compatibility with the main compression pump saves you a good deal of money in the long run.

PRICE

The price tag of this system is a little steep, but when compared to other compression recovery systems, it runs about in the middle of the road. It’s not the most affordable option out there, but it is far from being the most expensive. When you take into consideration the high level of compression offered, as well as the adjustable features and compatibility with other compression sleeves, it’s actually a really great value! Plus, it comes with a 2-year warranty in case anything goes wrong with your unit, giving you little reason not to give this compression system from Rapid Recovery a shot!

Verdict

Verdict

The human body is pretty amazing at healing itself. After a long and grueling training session, your body has all of the tools to heal sore muscles that help build strength and endurance. However, your body’s natural recovery abilities are fairly slow, and may not take into consideration your grueling training schedule! This Rapid Reboot system simply works to expedite your natural recovery process by sending blood to affected joints and muscles to significantly cut down on recovery time. If you need to be back at 100 percent by the next day, and just don’t have the time to take a nice and easy tempo run while your muscles recover, this system is worth every penny!

Of all of the recovery systems out there on the market, I feel that this option is among the best of the best. It delivers a high level of compression that is incredibly effective and is more competitively priced than many of the more expensive models that essentially deliver the exact same results.
