    The Luv2Run Portland, as a part of the marathons in Maine, will happen during the Old Port Festival, which celebrates music, art, and community.  Those marathons in Maine are a scenic off-road course and offer cash prizes to the 1st place winners and teams. Overall winners for men and women as well as the top age group winners will also receive a unique pint glass. The top 10 finishers will receive medals.  Water, fruit, and pastries will be available for all participants. The first 100 entrants will receive shirts, so make sure to sign up early. Registration fee is $15 before race day and $20 the day of.  Proceeds of the 5k go to the Sons of the Amvets Michael Shone Scholarship. Post race party and awards will take place at the Charles J.     Amy Buxton's Underdog Jog Memorial 5k Run/Walk
    In honor of Amy Buxton, local resident, volunteer, and nurse, the proceeds of this marathons in Maine go to Amy's favorite charities: Almost Home Rescue, the Kennebec Valley Humane Society, and the Family Violence Project.  Pre-race registration is $15 and race day registration is $20. T-shirts are available for purchase for $15.  Use the Top100 code at checkout for a chance to win a free t-shirt.  The race starts at 9:00 am at Cony High School. Packet pick-up starts at 7:00 am.     Shipbuilders' Sprint
    Runners are encouraged to wear blue and white for this event. The proceeds of the Shipbuilders' Sprint benefit the Bath High School Alumni Association.  The 5k is runner and walker friendly.  5k Walkers and the Kid's 1-mile fun run start at 9:00 am.  5k runners start immediately after the kid's run.  The race begins at Morse High School.  Early registration is $20 and regular registration is $25. T-shirts are not included with registration but can be purchased for an additional $15.  There will be prizes for the top female and male finishers as well as the class year with the most participants.  Packet pick up is at 8:00 am.  Race results will be posted online on the Shipbuilders' Sprint website.

    Close to the Coast 5k
    As you can assume from the name, the Close to the Coast 5k runs alongside the ocean and is a mix of trails and road. The marathons in Maine begins at Winslow Memorial Park.  The race also has a 10K option and a 1k kids fun run as well.  The 5k race is walker friendly.  Winners will receive a very unique prize - a pie from Valley View Orchard Pies.  Packet pick up will be on June 16th at the Freeport Integrated Health Center as well as on race day. Post race party includes live music, BBQ, adult beverages and a bounce house for the kids. T-shirts are limited, so sign up early to ensure you get one.  Registration is $25.

    Run for the Gold 5k
    Husson University Alumni will be hosting the Run for the Gold 5k that will take place on the Husson University campus. Runners are encouraged to wear Husson colors, dress up or wear white since runners will pass through different "color zones" on the course where they will be covered in Husson spirit colors.  This event, as a part of the marathons in Maine, is family friendly.  All participants receive a tech shirt and all finishers get a medal. The proceeds of the 5k help find scholarships for the Husson University students.  Photos will be posted online after the race.

    Kennebec River Rail Trail 5K
    The Kennebec River Rail Trail 5k course follows the, you guessed it, Kennebec River and the popular Kennebec River rail trail that spans 6.5 miles.  Runners will receive a technical t-shirt as well as bagels, coffee, and other refreshments.  There is also a half marathon and half marathon relay option as well.  Race fee is $30 before race day and $35 on race day. There will be awards for overall winners, by age group as well as an oldest and youngest finisher. The proceeds of the event go toward fundraising for the Kennebec River.

    Craft Brew Races
    Love beer?  Looking for a chill, no-pressure 5k?  Check out Craft Brew Races 5k featuring nearly 40 local breweries and a walker-friendly 5k with waterfront views.  The course goes around Back Cove in Portland. All participants receive a pint glass and entry into the festival and all finishers get a medal.  There will be beer sampling, live music, and food trucks.  Race photos will be posted on their Facebook page.  Entry fee starts at $40 and goes up until race day which will be $65. This event is for individuals 21 and older only.  There will be awards for the fastest male and female finisher as well as various team awards too, so you better take a look at this option from the marathons in Maine list.

    Portland 10 August 2019 Craft Brew Races
    Old Port 5k
    Runners will be treated to some amazing views as they run along Casco Bay and Bay Cove.  The course will have 3 water stops, 2 porta-potty locations and cool towels stations for this hot race.  All participants on this option from these marathons in Maine lists will receive two free beers at the Shipyard Brewing Company, post-race food, race photos, personalized race video, a 5k finisher medal and real-time race results on their Race Joy app.  T-shirts will be available for sale but are not included in registration.  For an additional cost, runners can sign up for the VIP treatment which includes VIP porta-potties and parking, special tech shirt, a small locker, and a server at the beer garden.

    Portland 22 June 2019 Old Port Half Marathon and 5k
    Second Annual Walk, Run, Roll 5K
    The first ever Walk, Run, Roll 5k will take place on July 22nd and is hosted by the Ronald McDonald House Charities. Water, snacks and other refreshments will be available to all participants.  Registration is $20 for runners and free for walkers, but all participants are encouraged to fundraise for the Ronald McDonald House Charities. The proceeds will help two particular houses in Bangor as well as a family room at the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital in Portland. There were be prizes for overall winners as well as age group finishers.

    Bangor 22 September 2018 WALK, RUN, ROLL 5K
    Boothbay Harbor Lobster Roll 5k
    The USATF certified 5k course runs along Maine's rocky coastline, crosses the harbor via a wooden footbridge and touches upon downtown Boothbay Harbor. The first 200 runners will receive a t-shirt. Race registration and free parking will be at the Boothbay Region High School There is also a 1/2 mile kids run that will take place on the high school grounds.  There will be awards for the overall male and female finishers as well as top female and male runners from each age group. Packet pick up begins at 6:30 am on race day.  The 5K begins at 8:00 am. Pre-race registration is $20 and race day it is $25.

    Boothbay Harbor 27 July 2019 Lobster Roll 5k
    Maine Lobster Festival 5K Run/Walk
    Runners will begin the 5k marathons in Maine at the Maine Lobster Festival in Harbor Park at 8:30 am.  All registered runners will receive a t-shirt and bib. Pre-race registration is $22, but race day registration will be available for $25. The course runs through the town of Rockland. There is also a 10K option as well as a 1-mile kids' 'fun run.  This option from the marathons in Maine is walker friendly. The 5K is timed and race results will be posted online.     Rockland 4 August 2019 Road Race, Fun Run and Walk - Maine Lobster Festival
    Riverlands 10k
    This is the inaugural Riverlands 10k and will take place in Androscoggin Riverlands State Park.  The course from the marathons in Maine list is a mix of single and double track dirt trails and features a section that runs along the Androscoggin River. This race is part of the New England Trail Series and the  L/A Dirt Triple Crown.  All participants receive a buff, post-race refreshments, including a beer for participants over 21.  The race begins at 10:00 am.  The top two finishers in each age group will receive awards. Shuttle to the start line will pick runners up at the Northern Outdoors Lodge.

    Swan Island 10K
    The Swan Island 10k race as a part of the marathons in Maine is a trail-like run follows a gravel "highway", Perkins Highway, and continues along the Kennebec River.  There are a few steep inclines on the course. Runners will be taken by ferry to Swan Island for the race.  There is no race day registration, so make sure to sign up before. All runners on this event as a part of the marathons in Maine receive a custom bib.  Note that there are no t-shirts for runners for this event. Proceeds go towards the Swan Island education scholarship fund.

    Carrabassett Backwoods 10k
    The Carrabassett Backwoods 10k course will be on the beautiful Maine Huts & Trails network and will include parts of the Narrow Gauge Pathway, Grommet's Trail, and Newton's Revenge.  The course is a loop and very technical and is intended for intermediate to advanced runners that have chosen this as an option from the marathons in Maine.  All runners receive a bandana buff and other swag and race day refreshments including a beer for racers over 21.  The first 36 registrants receive a Baxter beer glass, so if this is the best option from the marathons in Maine list, you better be fast.

    Carrabassett Valley 27 July 2019 Maine Huts & Trails Backwoods Duathlon
    Beach 2 Beacon 10k
    The Beach 2 Beacon 10k is held every year the first Saturday in August. This year marks the 20th anniversary of this popular 10k race, happening as a part of the marathons in Maine series. Joan Benoit Samuelson, who won the first women's marathon in 1984, is the founder and chair of the Beach 2 Beacon race.  The course begins at Crescent Beach State Park and ends at the famous Portland Head Light lighthouse. What makes this race different from the other marathons in Maine is the winding tree-lined course features breathtaking ocean views. All runners receive a t-shirt.  Packet pick up and expo is at the Cape Elizabeth high school and is open to the public.  The race begins at 8:00 am.

    Cape Elizabeth 3 August 2019 TD Beach to Beacon 10k Road Race
    Maine Lobster Festival 10k Race
    This 10k race takes place at the Maine Main Lobster Festival in Harbor Park.  The course features waterfront views and runs through the town of Rockland. There is also a 5K run/walk option as well as a 1-mile kids' fun run. All participants receive a shirt.  The 10k course is USATF certified and expects more than 300 runners this year. Runners can then visit the Maine Lobster Festival for good food, entertainment, children's activities and more!     Rockland 4 August 2019 Road Race, Fun Run and Walk - Maine Lobster Festival
    Breaker to Breaker 10k
    Breaker to Breaker 10k is an out and back beach run that begins and ends at Pine Point Beach.  Runners will turn around at the pier at Old Orchard.  This flat run takes place at low tide, as a part of the marathons in Maine events.  The first 100 registrants get a free shirt, and the first 200 registrants receive a goody bag.  The race begins at 9:00 am.  All runners will receive 2 beers from Shipyard Brewing Company and healthy snack by b.good Maine.  Profits from the race go to Partners for World Health, which is making this option different than the other marathons in Maine.

    Katahdin Woods & Waters 10k
    This 10k course goes through Katahdin Woods and Waters Recreation Area along the Penobscot River and the eastern boundary of Baxter State Park.  The course itself is a flat, smooth 5k loop on dirt logging roads.  All runners on this event as a part of the marathons in Maine series will receive a buff, other various swag, refreshments, and for runners over 21, a beer. First 36 registrants will receive a Baxter beer glass.  The race begins at 10:00 am.

    Close to the Coast 10k
    The Close to the Coast course takes place at Winslow Memorial Park and is a mix of quiet roads and trails. All runners who register before June 2nd will be guaranteed a shirt.  All runners receive a reusable stadium cup for the beer tent. The overall winners receive a pie from Valley View Orchard Pies.   Proceeds of the race go to the Freeport Rotary Club Educational Scholarship Program.     Westport Island Shore 10K
    This beautiful 10k course begins and ends at Old Town Hall and goes over two bridges spanning inlets to Heal Cove and Montsweag Bay.  The course is USATF-certified and begins at 9:00 am.  Water stations will be available on course. Runners who register before August 24th are guaranteed a shirt.  All runners will receive post-race refreshments at Old Town Hall.  Packet pickup will be on race day and begin at 7:30 am.  Registration cost is $22. The race benefits the Westport Island Volunteer Fire Department. There is also a 3.5-mile fun walk option.

    Blueberry Cove Half Marathon
    The 7th annual Blueberry Cove Half Marathon runs along the St. George peninsula and features amazing ocean views. Other points of interest along the course include the Port Clyde and the Marshall Point Light House. Hydration aid stations will be every two miles.   Afterward, runners will be treated to a blueberry brunch.  All finishers will receive a medal. There will be a pre-race dinner the night before for an additional cost. Registration is $85.  The race is capped at 250 participants.

    Bay of Fundy International Half Marathon
    In this unique race, runners will run over the United States/Canada border.  This challenging, hilly course features beautiful views of the Bay of Fundy.  Keep your eyes open: there have been bald eagle, seal and even whale sightings in previous races! Medals and awards are handmade by local artists.  All runners must have passports in order to be pre-cleared by border patrol.  The race begins at Cook’s Point on Campobello Island, Canada and ends at the Lubec waterfront.  There will be water and Gatorade stations about every 2 miles.

    Kennebec River Rail Trail Half Marathon
    This half marathon will follow the 6.5 mile Kennebec River Rail Trail that runs along the Kennebec River.  This flat and fast course begins at 7:30 am.  There is also a half marathon relay and 5k race option too. Proceeds from this event benefit the Kennebec River Rail Trail.  Runners will receive a tech shirt as well as post-race food and drink.  Pre-race registration is $45.     Boothbay Harborfest Half Marathon
    This scenic but challenging course runs over two islands and a historic footbridge and features beautiful ocean, lake, tidal river views, and harbor views.  Runners are guaranteed a shirt if registered before August 15th.  All participants are invited to participate in pre and post yoga stretching as well as massages.  Post-race breakfast will be available.  Stick around after the race and visit the Wellness Fair located at the Start/Finish line. The race begins at 8:00 am.  The course begins and ends at the Boothbay Region High School.

    Lake Auburn Half Marathon
    The Lake Auburn Half Marathon course features views of, you guessed it, beautiful Lake Auburn and the surrounding countryside.  Walkers are welcome to participate.  Water and Gatorade will be available every 2-3 miles on course.  All finishers will receive a medal. The first 500 registrants will receive a shirt. All participants will be treated to a post-race apple crisp provided by the culinary students at Central Maine Community College and Wallingford's Orchard. Live music and massage therapists will also be available.

    Caribou Maine Half Marathon
    This inaugural race will take place on scenic roads in Aroostook County.  This loop course begins and ends at the Caribou Wellness Center.  There will be post-race food and drink for all runners, as well as live music and vendors set up at the street festival located at the finish line.   All participants receive a shirt and goody bag and all finishers will receive a medal. The race is expected to fill up so register early.   The race begins at 8:00 am.  The course will close at 3:00 pm.

    Maine Half Marathon
    This scenic out-and-back course features beautiful views of Back Cove and Casco Bay and is a mix of hills and flat sections.  This race takes place alongside the full marathon for the first 6.5 miles.  Expect beautiful fall foliage along route.  Gatorade and water will be available every 2 miles. The race begins at 7:45 am.  Post race food and drink, as well as pre and post race massages, will be available to all participants.

    Looking for trail half marathon that goes through the deep woods of Maine?  Then check out Race Through the Woods Half Marathon! This race begins at Hidden Valley Nature Center.  This challenging course is a mix of single and double track over varied terrain.  All registrants will receive a t-shirt.     Pumpkin Harvest Half Marathon
    The 2nd Pumpkin Harvest Half Marathon takes place in Bethel, Maine and features beautiful scenic views.  This rolling looped course will be on paved roads and finishes at the Bethel Inn and Country Club.  All finishers will receive a finishers' award, not yet announced, and participants who register by September 1st will receive a t-shirt.     Mountain Desert Island Half Marathon
    The course of the Mountain Desert Island Half course is in the village Northeast Harbor and runs along the mouth of the only Atlantic Ocean fjord, Somes Sound, which is lined with pink granite.  All finishers will receive the race's unique Crusher Claw medallion. There will be a family-friendly finish festival after the race with BBQ and a beer garden as well as live music, kids' activities, food, and more! Runners will also have access to post-race massage.  There is a 4-hour course limit.

    The Moose Pond Half Marathon takes place at Shawnee Peak and makes a loop around Moose Pond.
