Samsung Gear S2 Review Facts

The Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch and activity tracker is a fantastic device for just about anyone. The customizable and lightweight design allows you to wear this all day, every day. It will not get in the way of your normal daily activities or your workouts which is an added bonus. Some customers were not happy about the fact that the band can suffer from some premature wear and tear but those are easily replaced so it is not too big of a deal. The biggest downfall of this product, however, is that the battery will stop holding its charge after using it for a while which is super frustrating to many customers. Overall though, customers like this watch. The average price and great look combined with the Samsung name keeps customers coming back for more.

There are a plethora of activities you can participate in while wearing the Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch. You get built-in activity tracking with this product so it is not just a watch but you can use it to track your steps and a variety of other fitness activities to help you meet your exercise goals. The watch is comfortable and lightweight so you can wear it all day long and it will not get in the way whether you are doing your normal, everyday activities or you are spending some time at the gym. Really, the only thing you cannot do with this product is wear it in the pool or the shower, as it is not water resistant.
Basic Features

Basic Features

There are a plethora of basic features available to you when you are wearing the Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch. You can keep track of all of your daily activity levels which can help you meet and exceed your fitness goals. You have access to the S Heath App where you can enter your food and drink intake to track your calorie consumption, water, and caffeine intake. This watch allows you to receive notifications from your phone right to your wrist when you are connected to it through a Bluetooth connection. You can even send replies to your text messages right from your watch. A nice feature that a lot of customers appreciate is that you can even set up notifications to remind you to move if you have been inactive for too long.

This product comes equipped with a heart rate monitor so you can keep track of your heart health throughout the day and during your workouts. Customers like to make sure that their heart rate is in the optimal zone while they are exercising so they can get the best out of their sessions. One thing that some customers have an issue with, however, is that this tracker does not give you a continuous heart rate like some others on the market do. You can set it to track for the duration of your workout, but for everyday activities, it will only check it occasionally or unless you tell it to. This feature is not a problem for most customers but there are some who would like to see a continuous heart rate monitor.
Advanced Features

Advanced Features

There are few advanced features that you get from this product that you may not expect from a smartwatch or activity tracker. The Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch has convenient wireless charging available. It comes with a charging dock which you just set your watch on when you need to. No need to try to plug it in just set it and forget it.

The watch has an accelerometer which will help you track each step that you take throughout the day. There is a gyroscope to help give a sense of direction and it essentially tells the watch which way is facing down, and it can measure the rate of rotation. These two things work together to give you a distance and step count daily but it also helps determine certain exercises, such as running, so it can automatically track them. Additionally, they are what allows you to have a built-in compass right on your wrist and how the watch knows to turn the screen off when you put your arm down or to turn it on when you lift your wrist to look at it.

There are mixed reviews when it comes to the accuracy of the Samsung Gear S2. Most customers can agree that the sleep tracker is the least accurate part of the watch, but that seems to be a common issue with a lot of similar products. Many reviews have stated as well that the heart rate monitor is not always the most accurate which is a little bit discouraging when you are trying to keep your heart rate in the correct zone for the activities you are participating in. It can be a bit difficult to get a highly accurate heart rate reading from a wrist tracker so if that is what you are looking for you may want to consider a chest strap.

For the most part, however, customers can agree that the steps that are tracked are pretty close. There are a few people who will disagree with this statement but the majority of the reviews state that they felt they were getting a good reading on their daily steps.

The connectivity of the Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch is one of the biggest problems that customers have. It connects to your smartphone through a Bluetooth connection but it has the tendency to lose the connection and does not want to seem to reconnect again. There have been a few comments that mentioned people had to reset their watches to get them to connect again. It does not always seem to be a problem, more of a hassle. The watch is still usable when it is not connected to your phone, however, you will not get your notifications and your data will not sync to your S Health App on your phone. There are many customers who have not had these connection problems, but again, a majority of them had trouble getting the watch to stay connected to their phones.

The Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch works mainly with the Samsung Gear App, as that is what you will use to set up and connect it to your phone. The Gear app will also allow you to customize your watch by giving you the option to change your watch face to something that you will love. They have a store featured in the app that has thousands of different faces to choose from, some you can get for free and others have to be paid for. This device also syncs easily to the Samsung S Health App to give you a better tracking experience if you are using this for fitness purposes. You can track your calorie and fluid intake on the app and then sync your fitness information from the watch to get an understanding of your calories in and calories out. This watch can also support some third-party apps, but this has been an ongoing problem with this watch. Samsung has done some to improve the compatibility with these types of apps, but they did not do a good enough job according to some customers.

The Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch seems to be very comfortable. Consumers rave about just how comfortable it is. The sports band is fantastic but if you do not prefer the look or feel of it you have the option to change the band out for one that would fit and feel better on your wrist. It seems to be a perfect size, not too bulky, so it does not get in the way of your everyday activities or your fitness routines. The lightweight design makes it so it does not feel like an additional weight attached to your wrist and some customers have stated that they barely notice it there at all.

Customers really like the look and style of the Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch, mostly because of how customizable they are. There are a plethora of watch faces that you can choose from so you can find something that suits your needs and interests. This device comes in 13 different styles, to begin with, and then you have the option to change the bands out with new ones as you see fit. There really is something for everyone. You will be able to make this watch fit your style and personality. Whether you are going to the gym or going for a night on the town you can change the look of the product and it will be perfect for you.

There does seem to be a few issues with durability when it comes to the Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch. Most of the complaints about the durability of this product are from the wrist band and the battery life.

A lot of customers have complaints about the band of this watch falling apart easily and breaking or wearing down. This is a relatively easy fix as you can simply replace the band when this happens. Understandably, however, it is frustrating to have to spend additional money on a new band because yours did not last as long as you would have liked.

The second issue with durability comes with the battery life. As with most products that have a rechargeable battery, as time goes on the watch does not hold a charge as long as it did when you first get it. Customers are unhappy that after wearing it for a while they have to start charging it more often.

Customers love the fact that the face of this watch is customizable. Through the Samsung Gear App, you can access the store that you use to purchase your favorite design. There are a plethora of options to choose from, some free and some at cost. This watch has a 360x360 pixel touchscreen that will give you a wonderful display with both crisp images and sharp text which will make it easier to see and read. It has a 1.2-inch display with a durable and scratch resistant Gorilla Glass screen.

The Samsung Gear S2 comes with two different sized bands so you can choose what will fit you the best and be the most comfortable. There are different options for this device when you buy it so it really depends on the version you choose as to what the band is going to be like. That being said, you can change the band up and design the watch however you will like it. You can choose a sporty and silicone band or a casual leather band in a wide variety of colors. The options are limitless.

The Samsung Gear S2 seems to have a great fit for many different wrist sizes. When you purchase it you get two different sized bands so you can pick one that is going to fit you the best and be the most comfortable for your needs. If the enclosed bands do not fit you there is always the option of purchasing another one and switching them out.

The watch itself is not very big or bulky which is much appreciated by customers. It is lightweight as well. It seems to be the perfect size for many people and does not get in the way of your daily activities, gym workouts, or fitness routines.
Ease of Use

Ease of Use

The Samsung Gear S2 is relatively easy to use. There are no complex features that will confuse you when you are using the watch. To start it up and connect it you will simply download the Gear app on your phone and turn the Bluetooth on, the app with walk you through the setup process. You do not have to be tech savvy to figure out how to operate this product.
Power Source

Power Source

The Samsung Gear S2 watch is powered with a rechargeable battery that comes with the product. You get a wireless charger which customers like because you can just set your watch in the cradle and do not have to hassle with plugging it in. The one problem with this is that they use a propriety charging unit so it makes it a bit more difficult to replace the charger if you misplace yours or simply want a backup.

The Samsung Gear S2 runs about average price when comparing it to other smartwatches and fitness trackers that are on the market today. The MSRP for this device rings up at $299 but as is with many other products you can generally find it much cheaper online. Some customers were not happy with the product and did not think they got their monies worth from it. On the same note, there were others who were satisfied with their purchase.

When you purchase the Samsung Gear S2 you will get the product itself, both a large and small size band, travel adapter, wireless charging dock, and a quick start guide to walk you through the setup process. If you are interested you can purchase additional watch bands as well.
