    We checked what events runners looked for the most and we compared statistics on how many runners held interest in any given event.  Feedback left by runners who participated in the course was also considered.  Other factors included how long the course has been around and the race swag you get at the finish line.  The design and quality of the the medals is another important factor that many runners consider when picking a race.  There are currently 1,412 5K races in the state of North Carolina.  Most of these 5K races are held in April and October with over 200 races in each month.  The months of March, May, June, September and November have over 100 5K races happening.
