Inspirational Athlete Spotlight: The Fashion Jogger
Imagine waking up early before the hustle of a busy day and getting in your run before the tourists and working professionals set foot amongst some of Italy’s historic grounds. Then your day transforms to one of a kind shopping extravaganza in some of Italy’s most famous designer’s shops, followed by perfect homemade Italian pasta & red wine. It certainly would be a dream for many to tour, run, shop and eat in one of the world’s most famous fashion districts. Milan, Italy has all of these qualities and more including aspiring runner and fashionista, Lisa Migliorini. With 71+ followers on Instagram, she has a lot of those dreamers following her every move to running a personal best 1:23 half marathon to attending name brand designer anniversary parties, she brings us all along to experience the magic of Italy.
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself: who you are, where you’re from, what you do?
I am Lisa Migliorini and I am 25 years old. I am from Italy and I live close to Milan. I am a physiotherapist, a runner and a sport/fashion influencer. I have been running since I was a child and I have always been addicted to fashion. Two years ago my fiancé, Fabio Cerutti, and I founded the “The Fashion Jogger”, a social brand that mixed running and fashion.
Your personal best half marathon is 1:23:07. Amazing! When did you start running and when did it become competitive for you?
I started when I was 11 years old. Before that, I tried different sport and activities (such as ballet, swimming, and triathlons), but over the years I realized running was the perfect sport for me. From the beginning, I started competing because I have always loved putting myself to the test to see where my efforts would bring me.
Running isn’t your only passion. Creator to The Fashion Jogger, a successful blog on running and fashion. What role does fashion play in your life?
I have always been a fashion lover from keeping up with current fashion trends to creating my own style. Why not look cool even during the pieces of training? Wearing a great sporty outfit and feeling beautiful can boost one’s workout and increases overall self-confidence.
You also work in healthcare as a physiotherapist. How does your career have influence in your lifestyle and fitness choices?
Being a physiotherapist helps a lot in my lifestyles choices because I can regulate and control my training intensity to prevent injuries. I know exactly what to do when I feel if something is not working properly.
You have graced the covers and was featured in both Runner’s World Italy and StarBene! Congratulations! What is it like to be a top influencer?
It is like a dream! When “The Fashion Jogger” was born, I didn’t expect to have such success, even if the aim of the project was serious from the beginning. Being a cover girl two times in one year has brought great satisfaction for my career.
Socially, your Instagram page is popular, like 71+ thousand followers popular! Could you put perspective on how that came to be?
I am so proud of my follower’s crew. They give me great support and keep stimulating me with new ideas. The most important thing for me is knowing that I am still able to inspire them. I am always trying to engage and inspire my followers with my healthy habits and fashion experience, which in turn brings more fans to “The Fashion Jogger”. It has been an amazing experience.
What are some of your upcoming goals?
A couple of my upcoming goals for this year are to grow personally and in my job with new opportunities and new projects. In regards to running, I would like to do a new half marathon personal best. 1:23:07 was a great personal achievement for me, but I ultimately would like to go under 1.23.00.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to improve their time in the half marathon?
First of all, I would suggest to properly choose the right competition for your personal best. Choosing the local race in town or locally is not always the right choice. More often than not, it is better to choose one with large participation, a fast course and maybe an additional benefit would be in a wonderful city you would like to visit. These options may motivate you, increasing your stimulation and energy during the competition and regardless of the pace you run, you won’t ever be alone. In addition, you will also have an opportunity to be a tourist after the competition. Once you have set the goal on the calendar, start the preparation at least two months before. Always feel the signals of your body, if you feel like you need some rest, do that, especially two weeks before the race. It is better to pay attention to your body signals prior to race day and not go into the race too tired.
